Sweden: Over 1,1 Million preborn children aborted since 1974

There has been over 1.1 million abortions in Sweden since 1985 alone.

Exact statistic from before 1985 is hard to find, but the best estimate is that around 1,5 million preborn children have been aborted in Sweden since the 1975 legalization of abortion, when it became unlimited legal with abortion until week 18.

In 2018, over 36.000 abortions took place in Sweden. There were 115.000 live births in Sweden in 2018. This means that around 25% of all preborn children were aborted that year.

This also gives a rate of 19 abortions per 1000 women aged 15-44.

Sweden has long had one of the most liberal abortion laws in Europe. Sweden was among the first countries to legalize abortion in Europe, after the UK, Austria, Denmark and France.

The first countries to legalize abortion was Japan (1948), Yugoslavia (1952), the Soviet Union (1955) and some eastern European countries (including Poland, Hungary, Romania and the Czech Republic) later in the 50s.

The Swedish law from 1974 states:

“If a woman requests termination of her pregnancy, an abortion may be performed if the procedure is performed before the end of the eighteenth week of pregnancy and it may not be assumed that it will entail serious danger to the woman’s life or health on account of her having an illness.”

Sweden is also one of 5 European countries where conscientious objection to abortion by doctors is not allowed. The other countries are Iceland, Finland, Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

Currently in Sweden, the only party that’s for restricting the abortion law is the right-wing Sweden Democrats, which wants to reduce from 18 weeks to 12 weeks.

Not even the Christian Democrats are in favour of changing Sweden’s abortion laws.

This even though many prominent politicians in the Christian Democrats around 1990 – 2000 were strongly engaged in anti-abortion activities. For example, Mikael Oscarson was the leader for “Ja till livet” (Yes to life) and arranged anti-abortion marches in Stockholm and anti-abortion advertisements on cinemas.

Now they have changed their position so much that the leader for the Christian Democrats Ebba Busch Thor, said in an interview in June 2019 regarding the Swedish abortion law:

“We are crystal clear. We have no proposals to change Swedish abortion legislation and we stand behind the Swedish abortion right.”

In Europe today, the only country where it’s illegal with abortion is Poland.

Worldwide, it’s estimated that around 130 million children are born every year and that 54 million children are aborted each year, meaning that 29% of the world’s population are aborted.

In all civilization, the definition of life is a heart that beats.

A child’s heart starts beating very early in pregnancy, already after 22 days (week 6), meaning that millions and millions of beating hearts of small precious children are stopped every year.

We cannot have double standards.

If a beating heart is life outside the womb, it must be life inside the womb.

If it’s wrong to stop a beating heart outside the womb, it must be wrong to stop a beating heart inside the womb as well.

God told us to love each other and not to murder each other.

And God has told us that He does not like when innocent blood is shed.

Prov 6:16-17: “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,”

Joel 3:19: “Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.”

Further that he will revenge.

Heb 10:30: “For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord.

Rom 12:19: “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

However God is merciful and forgiving, so if we are really sorry and repent and turn to Him, He will forgive us and account to us that Jesus shed his innocent blood for us, though we all are guilty of so many sins.

Ps 103:8,11-13,17: “The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;”

Let us all turn to God and seek Jesus with all our hearts.
